Yoga + Hiking in the French Pyrenees, 2019

Dené is an exceptional yoga instructor. I was fortunate to be part of a hiking/yoga retreat in the Pyrenees with her and got to experience her knowledge first-hand. A natural instructor, Dené was able to adapt the class every day to the needs of the attendees. I was impressed with her integration of complementary sciences/practices into our yoga practice - Ayurveda, Qi Gong, and others. She is truly an inspired, and inspiring teacher. I did nine 2-hour yoga sessions led by Dené in the Pyrenees Mountains in June/July 2019 as part of a hiking trip. Dené is fantastic! She is positive and brings laughter to the yoga practice. She encourages you to discover what limits your body has and be okay with it and the developments you can make. She is very knowledgeable about the background of yoga and various practices and realms of study and thought. She taught us about ‘doshas’ or our varying habits/energy levels and created an individual yoga program to take home based on our results. She encouraged us to contact her with questions after the retreat. Dené makes yoga accessible and fun and can take on whatever challenge you throw her way, including “yoga for eyes”!

My experience with Thornwood Yoga has been wonderful! I purchased a package of eight private sessions to get a solid introduction to yoga and some help with mobility issues.

Dené is an amazing instructor- patient and encouraging. I was originally worried that yoga would be too awkward for me because of my injured hip and knees, but within a couple of weeks I was sitting comfortably cross-legged on the floor... something I haven’t been able to do in at least a dozen years!

On Group Classes

I have struggled with knee and hip pain in addition to back pain to the point where I would have to take pain medication just to walk to class or go to sleep. But after I started attending classes at Thornwood Yoga, I no longer have the pain I had previously accepted as normal.
